Residents of the Village have suffered sewer backups into their
homes due to some residents throwing items such as Grease, Paper Towels,
Disposable Diapers and Wipes, and Feminine products down their toilets and
drains.
With just a little bit of help from ALL OF YOU, the Village's
sewer lines will operate more effectively and less disruption in service
will occur if we all follow these tips below.
Here are a few steps
you can take to help prevent this problem:
· Do not put dairy
products, fats, oil, grease or greasy foods down the garbage disposal or
drain.
· Freeze small amounts of fats, oils and grease in a lidded
container and dispose in a trash receptacle.
· Mix small amounts of
cooking oil with an absorbent material such as cat litter or coffee grounds,
place it in a lidded container and dispose of it in a trash receptacle
·
Wipe additional grease from pots, pans and plates with a paper towel before
placing them in the sink or dishwasher.
DO NOT dispose of any of the
following in your sinks (Bathroom and Kitchen) or toilets:
*GREASE
*PAPER TOWELS
*DISPOSABLE AND CLOTH DIAPERS
*FEMININE
PAPER PRODUCTS
*DISPOSABLE WIPES
If you have a sewer backup,
please contact our DPW at 516-482-2559.
Thank you to our Mayor's Advisory Council for creating the "Welcome
to Lake Success" brochure. The brochure contains useful information about
our Village that all residents should know!

Calling All VLS Pickleballers
The
2023 season is upon us and the Park Commission would like to welcome
everyone back for another exciting year.
We are pleased to introduce
two new pickleball courts (with dual use for both tennis and pickleball,
with pickleball having priority as long as there is another open tennis
court), bringing the total number of pickleball courts to four. We have also
procured wind screens for all fences, and are in the process of obtaining
more sunscreens with seating to make your experience even more enjoyable.
The first adult Pickleball Open Play (“POP”) night(s) will be Wednesday
May 3rd (for beginner through intermediate level players) and Thursday May
4th (for intermediate and more advanced level players). The sessions for
both nights will begin at 5:00pm and continue until dusk (so feel free to
join whenever you can). Interested players should bring pickleball paddles
and balls (if you have them; otherwise, a limited number will be available
to borrow). Make sure to bring some water and dress appropriately for
hard-court play, importantly including comfortable but supportive sneakers.
We will also be hosting another round of clinics, the first of which
will be held at 9:00am (through around noon) on Saturday May 13th. All
adults are encouraged to participate, including first-timers who would like
to try out this fast growing sport. Come down and practice your shots, work
on your game strategies, and engage your neighbors in a fun-filled event.
Stay tuned for more events and updates, including our new reservation
system on CourtReserve.
We look forward to seeing you out on the
courts!

Vehicle thefts have risen in and around our
village
These incidents have all involved unlocked vehicles in which the
keys were left inside. I cannot stress enough the importance of locking your
vehicles and removing your keys.
The police department has taken measures to
address this problem, but your cooperation is needed to help keep your
property and our community safe.
***Remember to lock your vehicles
and remove your keys***
Respectfully,
Lt. Mark Staniszewski
